During spring break, Conor, Christian, Karen, Motley, Lekima, and Laura traveled to Luang Prabang, Laos. This Rustic Pathways collaborative trip allowed our students to get a taste of the local culture and to experience service-learning. This year’s group participated in a traditional Lao cooking class, visited markets and museums, hiked to Kuang Sri waterfall, and sampled local delicacies including frogs and ant eggs! We spent a day in a village working alongside women building a water tank and playing games with the children. On the final day, we had the unique opportunity to engage in a cultural exchange with students and monks, while helping them to improve their English skills. Despite the brevity of the trip, our group formed memories that will last a lifetime!
